Article 4 of the EU AI Act puts the AI literacy of the people who use AI at work centre stage. AI4Cert helps you document that literacy in a traceable way.
- Practical assessment with tasks from everyday work Part A covers basic knowledge and judgement: how the AI works, data and confidentiality, checking and taking responsibility, limits and rules. In Part B the employee solves three tasks with a real AI: state the task clearly, give the AI the documents and requirements it needs – and leave out anything confidential –, check and steer the result, recognise the limit. Scoring follows the public assessment principles 1.2 (German). About 30 minutes.
- Personal record with an individual reference number Everyone who passes receives a PDF record with name, company, type of work, reference number and validity. Using the reference number, any third party – customer, auditor, insurer – can check on ai4cert.de whether the record is valid. Name and company appear there only if the employee releases them.
- Combined record for the company The company sees who has been assessed, who passed and how long the records are valid – and receives this as a combined record in one document. The company does not see individual answers. That is the documentation Art. 4 of the AI Act expects.
- Valid for twelve months The record is valid for twelve months from passing. We send a reminder two months before expiry; renewal is a new assessment at the same price. Questions and tasks are continually adapted to new AI developments, so the period is not an end in itself.
- If not passed: specific pointers, possibly training, and retake Anyone who does not pass learns which areas of the assessment framework fell short – and can work on exactly those: in-house, with existing material, or with a training on those areas. A second attempt is included in the price. An objection against the scoring of a practical task is possible within 14 days.

What AI4Cert is – and what it is not
Article 4 of the EU AI Act requires companies to take measures for the AI literacy of their staff – the law does not prescribe a certificate, and there is no official body that issues one.
